August 2, 2015 at 14:05 in reply to: Limit Extended Profile Multi-line text area max characters #71199kntParticipantI want to limit the input to 250 characters only.
kntParticipantAwesome @sharmstr, really helpful. I get it now. Thank you very much. Sorry i’m a newbie in buddypress.
kntParticipantYEs, i tried viewing my site in another browser and it’s still the same.
.htaccess file contains the standard code.
kntParticipantNot using a child theme is a bad idea if you’re going to be customizing.
– it’s okay @sharmstr, i don’t like child themes because it request another file, i don’t like that, though it’s barely noticeable in performance. I just like to modify the parent theme directly.
How do i check if i’m on the Activity page?
Again, the extra sidebar function is all you need to change.
– How do i change it? It’s in a switch statement. Please enlighten me.
kntParticipantThat should be it. But mine loads localhost/mysite/members/ Don’t know why this happens.
Just an added info, i have Peter’s redirect installed, and i have set 2 redirect, which is perfectly working. Neither of those 2 roles have /members/ on it.
kntParticipantThe kleo_extra_sidebar function is in line 885. I’ve the template that the Site Activity page is using and it is calling for “3lr” which could be found at line 911 in the functions.php. How do you suggest i should do the conditional check?
By the way i’m not using a child theme because of performance concerns.
kntParticipantHi again @sharmstr,
What i mean is the site activity page. I’ve already set it in wp admin > settings > reading.
Think of it this way. I have closed the tab for my site in the browser, but i’m still logged in. And then i visit it again by opening a new tab and typing localhost/mysite and hit enter. What page do you think will be loaded?
kntParticipantHi @sharmstr, thanks for helping me again.
What would be the condition if i want to show my code on the sidebar of the Site Activitiy page with left and right sidebars. For instance i want to show it on the right sidebar. Any thoughts?
July 31, 2015 at 11:54 in reply to: Can i safely uninstall the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer? #70935kntParticipantI can live with that @abe, i can’t take the performance of my site when it’s enabled, plus it doesn’t even load when you click Frontend.
Cheers!
July 31, 2015 at 09:55 in reply to: Can i safely uninstall the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer? #70923kntParticipantHi @abe, i have confirmed that it’s totally safe to disable WpBakery Visual Composer. Visual Composer makes my wordpress site unresponsive, same applies to the dashboard. I couldn’t even add a new page with it enabled.
I don’t need Visual Composer because i prefer to create page templates myself.
kntParticipantoh, i thought it can be easily implement. Well, thank you very much @sharmstr, if the avatar isn’t available yet. Can i just make the username bold? just to make it distinguishable. Do you know how?
kntParticipantokay @sharmstr, thanks again, i’ll be setting this as “Not Resolved” and update it accordingly when i find a solution.
kntParticipantOkay @sharmstr, thank you very much for your inputs. I have another question. Should i create a new topic or just post it here?
kntParticipantNo need to say sorry @sharmstr, i’m thankful that someone is helping me out. So don’t say sorry, because i really appreciate your help.
So what are you using SEO plugin are you using for buddypress + kleo now? I tried modifying the members page under Pages, editing the SEO Title and Meta Description, but no luck. Any thoughts?
kntParticipantThanks @sharmstar, i configured Yoast SEO > Titles & Metas > Title Separator to “-” Still doesn’t work
kntParticipanthmm, maybe there are some codes that i need to add to functions.php to make it work for buddypress? Or some other configurations that i’ve missed @sharmstr?
kntParticipantThanks for your answer @sharmstr, i don’t have w3 total cache installed yet. Also if it helps to know, i’m developing locally using WAMP.
kntParticipantHi @sharmstr, i tried installing and activiting it. But it doesn’t seem to change the <title>. Maybe you could help me set it up?

July 28, 2015 at 12:12 in reply to: Can i safely uninstall the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer? #70358kntParticipantHi Abe,
Thanks for your answer again.
Is there a way to make the activity stream look like pinterest?
Also, i’ve checked out the source code of my homepage, and to my surprise it calls a lot of css and js. Most of them are not needed in my home page. My home page is very simple. Just a registration form and simple description about my site. nothing fancy. I’m wondering if there’s a way that i may safely unload the unecessary css and js?
July 27, 2015 at 16:59 in reply to: Can i safely uninstall the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer? #70264kntParticipantHi Abe,
Thanks for your reply.
It’s weird that i was able to make the register page the home page.
Here’s my settings:
Settings > Reading > Front Page Display > A Static Page > Front page: RegisterScenario:
When i’m in the homepage and i click the login button, a pop-up appears, and i fill it up with my credentials, and then i click log in, and it went through. Is there a way that i can configure the redirection when i have successfully logged in?Cheers!

July 24, 2015 at 17:41 in reply to: Can i safely uninstall the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer? #69840kntParticipantHi Abe,
Thanks for your response. I’ve set my homepage to Register page in buddypress. The template that it renders is from site_name\wp-content\themes\kleo\buddypress\members\register.php right? Can i just modify this to my own liking? If you have a good book that could recommend to me about buddypress, i would greatly appreciate it.
Also, i’m not using the kleo child theme. I’m using the main kleo theme for performance concerns. Is this totally fine?
Cheers!
July 23, 2015 at 17:02 in reply to: Can i safely uninstall the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer? #69667kntParticipantHello? any help?
July 23, 2015 at 11:51 in reply to: Can i safely uninstall the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer? #69584kntParticipantThank you Abe.
I have uninstalled it.
Now with the Visual Component, i’m new to it, i tried using it on the register page of buddypress. But the changes i made doesn’t reflect when i visit the register page.
Another problem is that when i click Frontend, it became unresponsive. What do you think is the reason?
Cheers!

I’m not using Revolution Slider on my site, so is it safe to just uninstall it?
