Solved the issue myself, it was a conflict with another Plugin called Restrict User Pro.

StrothiParticipantHey guys @Radu,
I just changed my primary menu and guess what, all my menu items have disappeared again π This time however the option to set menu items is completely gone in the backend?! I don’t see any errors in the console, so I was wondering whether you took out the option to set menu items with the last update maybe? And if not, any idea what might be causing the issue this time?
Thanks in advance.

I understand. But not being able to read full entries is a significant issue which is now delaying the opening of my site to a larger audience! Would be great if you could have the developer check the issue as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance.

well, widgets of additional sidebars are moved to standard sidebars and don’t keep their place, so there’s an issue π As for the plugin, you can get a free test version here: https://youzer.kainelabs.com

January 11, 2019 at 18:46 in reply to: Blog / News Overview disappeared after update / Possible js issue #216365StrothiParticipantOh, on an unrelated note: Each time I deactivate Kleo it moves widgets from my additional sidebars – which is really annoying because I always have to reassign them. Maybe this is something that you could also look into in going forward π

the forum doesn’t let me upload the log file, but error in question from the log file is the following:

January 9, 2019 at 12:33 in reply to: Blog / News Overview disappeared after update / Possible js issue #216227StrothiParticipantDear @Radu,
I fixed now nearly all errors, except for one. I’m using Youzer for my Buddypress pages and in the activity stream, the “Read more” button doesn’t work! I just tested it with TwentyFifteen and here all works fine. Again, it’s a js issue, as you can see in the log:
You can see the issue if you go to fslci.org/activity and then click on the top on group updates. The first post in the groups overview has a “read more” button, click that and you’ll see that it doesn’t load and the error comes up in the console. It seems to be an issue with the theme calling for admin-ajax.
Thanks for looking into this.

January 7, 2019 at 13:50 in reply to: Blog / News Overview disappeared after update / Possible js issue #216096StrothiParticipantI stand corrected! I just found a menu item that had a # reference, deleted it and now everything loads like it should π I still have a few js errors, but they don’t seem to affect the functionality of the site for now!
January 7, 2019 at 13:39 in reply to: Blog / News Overview disappeared after update / Possible js issue #216095StrothiParticipantDecember 29, 2018 at 17:05 in reply to: Blog / News Overview disappeared after update / Possible js issue #215828StrothiParticipantFYI: I just reinstalled 4.4.2 and now it works again. Interestingly, all errors from the screenshot remain except for the second “Syntax Error”. The others are also all js errors, so I think they are related anyhow to the issue but do not cause the elements not to load like the second error – at least if I go by the messages in the console…

thanks, 4.4.2 indeed fixed the issue. Obviously that’s not a permanent solution but it shows that the issue indeed is with Kleo.

December 18, 2018 at 18:11 in reply to: Blog / News Overview disappeared after update / Possible js issue #215478StrothiParticipantDear @Laura, all plugins (except for one which doesn’t cause the issue) are updated. I also deactivated all plugins and the issue remains! I installed WP 5.0.1 again as well as Buddypress, which was the only other plugin I updated next to Kleo. If you inspect, you can also see that JS is indeed blocked! It would be great if you could look into this issue.
Thanks so much in advance.

StrothiParticipantDear Radu,
ok, I solved the meta issue by using the shortcode and set up a new page π How can I increase the number of portfolio items shown so people don’t have to navigate through portfolio item pages and the filters work among all items?
Kind regards, Philip
StrothiParticipantDear Radu,
let me try to clarify π So, when I insert a link to a page on e.g. Linkedin or Facebook etc it pulls metadata and shows a snippet of text and an image. For normal pages, I can alter what is pulled by using a plugin like All in One SEO.
Now, because the portfolio page is not a page in the traditional sense, I cannot apply the same logic. But I would still like to determine, what metadata / text is pulled – even if I need to hardcode it somewhere. Hence my question, where I could best insert that.
Kind regards, Philip
StrothiParticipantDear Radu,
sorry, I mistyped that in my initial post. I want to add metadata to the portfolio overview page, which is generated by the theme and thus I cannot edit that under pages, because it doesn’t appear as a standalone page.
Kind regards, Philip
StrothiParticipantBy the way, any idea how to incorporate comments on individual portfolio items into the buddypress activity stream? π
Kind regards, Philip
StrothiParticipantDear Radu,
thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. In the end, I think the issue was that I downgraded from Buddypress 3.1 to an earlier version but the earlier versions did not work properly. Uninstalling and replacing it was the right idea!
Thanks so much, highly appreciated!
Kind regards, Philip
StrothiParticipantAh, for now, I deactivated buddypress, but feel free to activate it during testing to see the issue live. Just make sure to deactivate it again π
StrothiParticipantThanks @Radu, that was indeed the issue which we’ve now solved!
Have a nice weekend!
StrothiParticipantDear Laura,
ok, now I’m even more confused than before π Yes, I see it worked, however… this only works for the first few menu items. Now, first I thought it was caused by Nav Menu Roles plugin, but I disabled it and the issue remained. I’ve spent now quite some additional time, trying to figure out the issue and here’s what I see:
1) For the first 10 menu items set, all is fine
2) For any menu items afterwards, whether logged in, or not, things don’t work
3) It’s not just the icons, it’s also the menu style -> e.g. if I move the “Join us” item to position 11, it looses its style which is set to “See through”
4) I thought the Kleo menu items such as Live Notifications might be causing the issue, hence I deleted them all -> no luck
5) I thought it was a specific menu item like the Forum, but it’s not. If I replace the position of the forum menu, the icon appears for the replaced menu item, not for the Forum anymore
6) If I move a menu item with an icon to a position beyond 10, it will loose it’s style setting when saved! In conclusion, something – beyond my understanding – messes up the ability to save menu styles past menu position 10 and it doesn’t matter what kind of menu item and what kind of setting is applied.
Any ideas are appreciated!
StrothiParticipantDear Laura,
no, it’s just in the menu. I use the same icons in others places and it works fine. They also show up in the menu select area, they just don’t save!
Kind regards, Philip
December 10, 2017 at 19:25 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182578StrothiParticipantFound the issue: It was a conflict between the plugin Plugin Organizer and K Elements. It’s unfortunate, because the plugin really helps speed up the site with all the plugins that I have running, hence I hope a future update will resolve the issue.
@Radu Thank so much for your help, highly appreciated!December 8, 2017 at 18:18 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182389StrothiParticipantOk, thanks. That’s indeed really weird, because I did exactly that yesterday and didn’t change a thing. Will do again, this time one by one and report back!
December 8, 2017 at 14:54 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182349StrothiParticipantI don’t think k elements are causing the issue. If I deactivate it, I still have the issue with the page builder causing the pages to go beyond the container. Which is the key issue to solve for me.
Why k elements elements are not showing up in the Page Builder is then the next thing to solve, but it’s not so much impacting my site as the first issue!
December 7, 2017 at 19:17 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182273StrothiParticipantRunning on 5.6 now, doesn’t make a difference π
December 7, 2017 at 17:03 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182240StrothiParticipantThe issue has to be with the Page Builder! For the template for example, if I don’t use VC, the text is correctly positioned. If I use the same text and put it in a VC row, it immediately moves out of the container. Why the k-elements don’t show up, I don’t know. But it is an issue with VC and it not working properly for some reason.
December 7, 2017 at 16:45 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182236StrothiParticipantDear Radu,
but if I deactivate all plugins (except for VC, K-Elements & Maintenance Mode), the elements still don’t show up and the issue with the template is also not resolved?! So I very much doubt that this is a conflict with plugins on the side?!
Kind regards, Philip
December 7, 2017 at 14:53 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182229StrothiParticipantAny news? Where you able to replicate the issue on your end?
December 6, 2017 at 16:52 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182127StrothiParticipantThis reply has been set as private.December 6, 2017 at 16:19 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182115StrothiParticipantSo, I just did what you asked, replaced all Kleo files with the ones downloaded from Themeforest. I even tried to see whether switching from my child theme to the original would make any difference: It does not! Problem is still the same π
December 6, 2017 at 15:42 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182112StrothiParticipantWhat I see is also equal to what they show here: https://wpbakery.com/video-academy/full-width-row/
The problem is, my default is not acting properly. Your editor looks to me like an older version of the WP Bakery Page Builder?!
December 6, 2017 at 15:33 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182111StrothiParticipantDear @Radu,
I don’t even get the setting you mean. See screenshot:
How is it that my editor is different from yours?

December 5, 2017 at 19:32 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #182040StrothiParticipantDear @Radu,
I did it before and I have done it now again, deleted both K Elements and VC and the issues unfortunately remain π Any other idea?
Kind regards, Philip
December 5, 2017 at 13:18 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #181992StrothiParticipantI think I’ve an idea what’s causing the issue – or many of them currently: I’m using lots of Kleo specific elements and they are not even displayed anymore in the backend editor. They are entirely gone also when I would try to add new ones.
Some still display because the theme can interpret them, but apparently the new WP Bakery Page Builder does not recognise them anymore with neither the backend nor frontend editor. As a result, in the backend my page looks like a lot of content is missing when I try to edit it – while it’s there in the classic one and gets to be partially displayed on the frontpage.
In other words, the issue is most certainly the interaction between Kleo and the Page Builder!
Kind regards, Philip
December 4, 2017 at 17:29 in reply to: Important: Full Width Template is causing issues with Landing Page etc. #181927StrothiParticipantDear Laura,
yes, I tried with the standard wordpress themes and not all, but some of the issues remain. So I guess the issue is more with the Page Builder?! KLEO also tells me to install Visual Composer, even though the now called WP Page Builder is installed. Given that the Page Builder is provided with the theme, I’d really like for someone from your end to look into it.
Kind regards, Philip
