dudeincoloradoParticipant
I am not comfortable attempting to manually update the file on my FTP client and the point is, I should not have to do this. This function has always worked in the past, and with the frequent updates, this function needs to work properly.
The WP Classic Editor plugin is what caused my site to crash and I disabled it. This is not urgent at this time, but I am extremely concerned because of the coming changes to WordPress.
Envato is not going to brush me off. The Colorado AG is looking for internet fraud and I am not going to walk away with no resolution.
dudeincoloradoParticipantI sent Envato an email and they responded with a form letter and are now ignoring me. This situation is completely unacceptable. The automatic update function has always worked in the past, but is now returning an error saying I am not supplying a valid URL when it is a valid URL. I tried generating a new API key and this did not resolve the problem. I have found numerous complaints about Envato online. If this issue is not resolved, my next step is to file a consumer fraud complaint with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.
dudeincoloradoParticipantThanks for the response. I am NOT going to manually download every update on an FTP client. That is out of the question. The error message says that “a valid URL was not provided.” I did in fact provide a valid URL. This is a basic function that has always worked in the past. I recently changed to a https from http, could this be the problem? Because my second KLEO site is doing the same thing.
I sent Envato an email and I’m awaiting a response from them if this problem is their responsibility.
The thing that instigated the site crash problem was apparently the WP “classic editor” plugin and it seems irresponsible on the part of WP to include this in an update if it is not compatible with widely used themes. I’ve been using KLEO for a few years now, and when it is working properly, it is a fantastic, easy to use software package. I’m not sure why WP needs to force an editor change. It took me long enough to learn how to use the one we have now! The thing that attracted me to WP and KLEO to begin with, is you don’t need to be technically advanced to learn the processes.
Thank you and I’m looking forward to hearing back from Envato. Have a wonderful day.
dudeincoloradoParticipantI missed the private reply box – I’m busy in a different occupation and my adult sites
are a sideline I’m still learning …
Thank you for fixing this problem, but I’m unsure why I was not able to do it on my own.
I’ve changed this setting via the same route on many other times on free themes ( ? )
Have a good day …dudeincoloradoParticipantWhere do I encounter it? Read my first post. With all plugins deactivated the same problem exists.
dudeincoloradoParticipantI just activated a WP 2014 theme on a test site and I am NOT experiencing this issue on the test site. This is NOT a WP issue.
dudeincoloradoParticipantI have it set to 9 and it works … only problem is I want to show 24 or more “read more” posts on the home page. I’m not technically advanced – is there a way I can do this?
dudeincoloradoParticipantI am not able to find the shortcode that you showed in your screenshots.
1. There is no “home page” in the pages index on the dashboard.
2. I do not have a “classic mode” tab on any edit pages. It shows a “backend editor” and a “frontend editor”
Can I change the number of blog posts displayed in the appearance > editor?
Also: If I click on “frontend editor” the page becomes unresponsive and I have to kill it. If I go to the display and click “visual editor” on any page, it displays the logo in the center working, but I am also getting two lines of errors on the top of the page that I can not read because it is light text on a whitebackground.
I have a dreamhost dedicated server. I bought this theme because you claimed it was easy to use. These numerous problems are not acceptable and I am unsatisfied with what you sold me.
dudeincoloradoParticipantHow do I get to the home edit page? There is no home page in the pages index …
dudeincoloradoParticipantI can’t give out passwords. Why is my website not functioning properly? I’ve never had this type of problem with the many different free themes I’ve used on different domains.
dudeincoloradoParticipantI’m having the same issue. I want to remove the word “blog” from the body of the home page so the featured posts go flush to the top. Is this problem caused by a plugin?
dudeincoloradoParticipantThere are a mind boggling number of WP plugins out there… Thanks for the help
dudeincoloradoParticipantThanks. A bit overwhelmed getting this new site up and missed the obvious 🙂
