Hello, all changes needs to be done at the child theme, if you change something at the main theme, changes will be LOST if you update the theme, that is why child theme has to be activated and all changes stored there

Hello, homepage is done with elementor, you can use visual composer but you would need to build the page yourself and some sweetdate elements are not compatible. However, you can always paste the shortcode of the element to use it at visual composer text element
