ParticipantHi Laura – I see that I have another release to update. Should I be nervous? Will I need to delete all BuddyPress plugins again and re-add them?

ParticipantSo strange – that is what I usually do but was not able to do so because the theme wasn’t letting me grab the URL. Whatever happened, it appears to be fixed now : ) Maybe when I upgraded to the new Kleo release and deleted BuddyPress and added it again – that fixed the problem?

ParticipantI’m sorry to say that it is still a problem. If you go to the page: https://www.treyburn.org/architecture-modification-application/ and page down where it says “Select your Model” – the first button called “ATLEE-L” is attached to a PDF file and it will not display. If you click on it, you are brought to either 404 Not Found or a Post page called atlee-left “Leave a reply.”
I am unable to do anything with any PDF files once I upload them. I cannot edit them or insert them or display them. If I click on VIEW for atlee-left-2.pdf it brings me to the post page. If I click on edit it brings up a page that says Edit Media, Permalink: https://www.treyburn.org/atlee-left-3/. It’s very confusing. I can’t get anything to work with it.

ParticipantHi again – so I don’t have any BuddyPress installed at the moment. How do I get the 2.9 release? Would that possibly resolve the problem?

ParticipantHi Laura – OK I did what you said and deleted both BuddyPress plugins but it did not solve the problem : ( Do you have any other ideas or should it be escalated to a higher technician? I really need to be able to upload PDF files onto my site.

ParticipantSo when you say buddypress, do you mean both bbPress which I have 2.5.14 installed and active and BuddyPress 3.0.0 installed but inactive. I imagine you are referring to BuddyPress – however does an inactive plugin cause problems?
How do I get to the 2.9 release?

ParticipantHi Laura, I have updated all my plugins and yesterday I was able to upload an image and was able to insert it into a page which was very good! However I still can’t upload a PDF file and use it. I provided log in credentials above so you can check.

ParticipantThanks Laura – I needed to update 4 plugins so thanks for reminding me about that! I completed the update and then tried re-uploading a PDF file and thankfully it did not crash the site when I went to view it (like yesterday) but it won’t display it. The file in question is called: atlee-left.pdf. Please log in using:

ParticipantHi Radu – sorry for the delay. I did try those things but it didn’t help. It ended up being on the hosting side and my web hosting finally resolved it. It took a long time – I was trying to solve it from all angles. Thank you always for your great support!

ParticipantHi R – I continued testing this issue this morning and now it appears to be OK. Maybe when I applied the latest release of Kleo, it fixed it? Not sure but it’s no longer a problem.

The plugin worked great – thanks for pointing that out to me! Also you can close the ticket. I’m not sure if you added the php code above (I never did) but for some reason when I went into my BLOG page today, I was able to select my custom blog-sidebar : )

ParticipantHi Laura – thanks for your reply. No neither of those locations helped. If someone tries to log into the website and they forget their password. They click on “Forgot Password?” link and then an email is sent to me but in the email it says “Username: Treyburn” but the username is not Treyburn. I also want to change who this email goes to.

ParticipantHi Laura – OK I updated the Kleo theme and am now running on 4.3.2 : ) However I have not activated the Child Theme yet. I do not believe the Child Theme that is in my Appearance/Themes area is the most recent. When I click on it to display “Theme Details” it only says “Kleo Child” no version number.
Is this the correct one you think?

Regarding updating my KLEO to 4.3.2 – I have exported my settings to a text file like you said. So this will take care of all my color, font and customizations I did in the Theme Options area right? Including my logo, favicon, quick css etc.?
I am still unclear about what you said above:
Hello, the best way is to setup your api and username at kleo update at theme options, this is the safest way. The child theme is NEVER updated. Only the main theme check https://archived.seventhqueen.com/kleo/article/updating-the-themeWhen I read this article it states to “enable the Child theme and do any customizations there.” So I am not sure when I am supposed to enable the Child theme and when not to.
Is the Child theme supposed to be ACTIVE or is the KLEO main theme supposed to be ACTIVE in the Appearance/Themes area?

ParticipantHi Laura – now you’re talking details which I can use : ) OK good about import/export my settings to a text file. With regard to “if I added codes to main theme files” what does that mean exactly? Also if I created sidebars, widgets – do I need to back all those up? If so, how?

ParticipantHi Laura – I read the “How to Update the Theme” document and I do that. My question is I never ACTIVATED the child theme so am I in trouble? What will happen if I just activate it now? So I believe I actually have the latest version installed. I am running on Kleo 4.3.1 – that’s the most recent correct?

ParticipantHi Laura – believe it or not, I still haven’t installed the child theme and I know I need to tackle this. I am just nervous since I had trouble doing this in the past and it wrecked my website. Now today I upgraded new releases to other websites and lost all my widgets and sidebars! I know I must be doing something wrong.
I need to install the latest version of Kleo to my website at http://www.treyburn.org but I need to figure out what I am doing wrong so I don’t lose all my widgets here too.
So can you please tell me – when you install the latest version of a theme – is this the proper way?
1) upload the zip file for the new release
2) rename the kleo file in the wp-content/themes folder to something else, like kleo-old-release
3) upload and install the new release using the WP dashboard
4) select the newest release in appearances/themes and activate the new release.When I follow this, it is when I lose all my widgets. Am I supposed to have child themes installed first?
