Hello,
I changed the menu by just creating a new one under ‘menus’. The unique footer is exactly that, a footer that is only specific to certain pages of the site.
This is my main site: http://inhouserecruitmentnetwork.co.uk
This is an area within my site http://www.inhouserecruitment.co.uk/client-1/awards/ (however I can’t work out how to change the link to be http://www.inhouserecruitment.co.uk/awardsmlennox10ParticipantI don’t think you’re crazy ;-). Is it anything to do with the second CSS file you setup? Sorry I’m guessing and not sure why it’s not working.
mlennox10Participant@sharmstr thanks but that has now removed all the messages. I need the message in the red box please.
mlennox10ParticipantAnd so you know I added this to both the kelo child stylesheet AND the one you created..
mlennox10Participant@Radu Thanks for your efforts. I think we’re getting closer as two of the messages have been removed – one of them is one I wanted to keep though. Here’s what it looks like now: https://www.diigo.com/item/image/55mss/mqnc?size=o
To be absolutely clear, the message upon activation I would like to keep is the one in the red box at the bottom of this screenshot: https://www.diigo.com/item/image/55mss/dbyu?size=o
I’ll send you a private reply with my FTP details as it might help you to see what’s going on.
Thanks again
mlennox10ParticipantHi thanks for trying. I did that but it didn’t make any difference (see screenshot)
https://www.diigo.com/item/image/55mss/m20i?size=o
Any other ideas please?
Thank you
mlennox10ParticipantThanks @abe but as far as I can see that locks my whole site down. I want to draw members in through the blog and events, but commenting and forum participation are locked down.
As above, can you tell me what you meant by this:
“Yes you do have the option in Membership -> Advanced to check Logged in or Not Member(this is a user that hasn’t subscribed)”
Because that’s what I’m after..

The slider text, headings and other text formattings have not been carried though. But they seem to be on Chrome? See here. http://inhouserecruitment.co.uk

Since the last message I just put the widgets back in the footer and side-bar and as far as I can see it’s all good. Thanks again for your help. Anyone would think you do work here with all the time and effort you put in. We’re very grateful.
Cheers!
January 20, 2015 at 01:29 in reply to: Change registration text to be more friendly and beneficial #42700mlennox10ParticipantOk, I had a good read, looked at some videos and think I’m almost there.
1. I went to theme options > Import / export to download my settings
2. I activated my child theme > theme options > Import (although I just pasted in the contents of the file)
3. Almost all my settings were back!! However I noticed my menus were not so
4. I went to appearance > menus and ticked the main menu box to get my menus backQuestion: I noticed I had nothing in my sidebar but don’t know if there’s a way reinstating my widgets?
Also, is there anything else I’m likely to need? Thanks again for all your help, I feel I’ve learnt something today and am of course feeling safer now I’m on the child theme.
Thanks again and yes great idea for a blog post as there are more and more non-technical people like me using themes.
January 19, 2015 at 22:42 in reply to: Change registration text to be more friendly and beneficial #42674mlennox10ParticipantHi, I sorry if this sounds stpid but I need to be absolutely clear.
Under themes I have Kleo and Kleo child. Both have been installed however Kleo is my ‘active’ theme. Is this correct?
To date, I have not made any changes any php files etc however I’ve installed lots of plugins and set them all up on the Kleo theme (not the child theme), is this correct?
Thank you for bearing with me.

I’m getting a bit confused about when I should and shouldn’t be editing the child theme? Also I’ve activated the child theme but should that be the one I’m generally working on?
mlennox10Participant@abe and wielandsmith
I too have a free level of membership, can you restrict content with a ‘logged in’ setting? If so, where is that setting please?
Also, I’ve activated the child theme however I’m working from the main theme in terms of dashboard etc. Is that the right way?
All help and advice appreciated.
mlennox10ParticipantHi there,
I’ve tried to follow this thread but cannot find the setting described above.
Yes you do have the option in Membership -> Advanced to check Logged in or Not Member(this is a user that hasn’t subscribed)
To be clear, my site is a FREE site (but only for members). So when a user registers and is approved, I want them to have access to all areas of the site. But when a non-member or not-logged-in member, visits my site I want to restrict the forum, member viewing etc.
All help would be really appreciated and i’m running KLEO.
Thanks
mlennox10Participantok great, thank you.
By the way, do you offer premium support? I.e. connecting to sites directly and carrying out some work when required? For a fee of course.
mlennox10ParticipantIt’s very strange as the change I made didn’t make any difference but then I went back to the page and it has worked. At the time I did a hard refresh etc so just seemed to take it’s time, no idea why.
Any way thanks again for your help
Markmlennox10ParticipantThanks for the reply. The fields are back as I had to do a restore from last night.
However i edited the wording on the registration page php file (as per your reply) however the text doesn’t change. Any idea why please?
mlennox10Participant@patagonia did you get any further with this at all? We too would really like this option please
mlennox10ParticipantIt worked like a charm, thank you very much. Do you know why it didn’t just pick up the style from the theme?
mlennox10Participant@Radu, thanks for the reply. I had the plugin but it wasn’t activated on the page – it is now. However I’ve noticed the text (when filling out the form is sooooo light I can barely read it. I’ve looked everywhere to change it but can’t see it anywhere. Could you advise on what I can do please?
Many thanks
mlennox10ParticipantHi Abe, if it is not possible to change would it be possible to change the wording ‘Username’ to ‘Email’ in the registration/sign-up forms?
Thanks
mlennox10ParticipantHi Sharmstr,
Thanks for replying. I have just realised that I was redirected here from another discussion but this solution will block all pages. I would just like to block Forum, Activity and Members. Do you have any idea how this can be done? It seems like a common problem but a lot of the plugins people have suggested are outdated and the link doesn’t work.
Any help would be much appreciated.
mlennox10ParticipantHi Abe,
I have just realised that the link you sent me to will block all pages whereas I would like to only block: Forum, Members, Activity Stream.
Any idea how to do this?
mlennox10ParticipantHi Abe, thanks for redirecting me to this page. Could you let me know where I need to place this code? Should it be on each page I wish to block? I would like to block members page, forum, and activity stream.
Thanks!
mlennox10ParticipantHi Sharmstr, I would like to have everything on our BuddyPress site open apart from Communities (which members will need to have signed in) is that what Private Community for Buddypress will do? I can’t seems to find the plugin. Do you have a link?
Thanks!
