Hello, the ajax login doesnt really need a captcha, but the registration page yes, that is the page you should protect, i suggets to use ithemes security base configuration ( dont touch anything more) and https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-nocaptcha-register-box/ for the register page 🙂
