Hello, the difference is that if you modify files in normal theme, when theme has an update and you update it, all your changes would be lost. In child theme is where you place the files you edite so they dont change in an update, for example, all functions should be added to functions.php in child theme so they will always remain there even if you update sweetdate and functions.php changes, yours will be always safe.

Hello, to be more organized, i would like you to order each problem with points, 1,2,3… So we can solve them one by one.

First i noticed your website has too many plugins, some of them are blocking others, and blocking functionalities of buddypress. Please before anything test your settings deactivating some plugins until you find the ones that are blocking stuff. For helping you to do this, profile fields under users should be like the attachment i sent you, right now its not shown like that in your menu.

To setup this matching system, first you need to know what fields will count as matching for the users, you want that if they are from the same city it gives a 5% of match? those settings can be done from the code, as you see sex percentage is set to 49, but you can change it as you want, this means if a man wants a woman, and woman wants a man, they both will have 49% of match.

To add more fields to match just copy
‘FIELDNAME’ => 10,
And add it after the others depending on if the field is multiple value or simple value (As set in users > profile fields)

You can also change the 10 for the % you want that field to count.
