Hi Sharmstr, please would you let me know how to do this using Yoast SEO instead, i.e. where – in Yoast SEO – I can find the meta description block where I need to add my description?

FYI, please see this article by http://www.yoast.com, which seems to suggest that the ‘Missing Author’ issue that I’m experiencing is a Kleo Theme issue. Maybe there’s some setting that I need to change in the Kleo Theme Settings section?

    Hi Sharmstr,

    Thanks for your email.

I still have 2 questions though:

    1. Where exactly would I add the code that you sent me?
    2. I also use the Yoast SEO plugin, but how do I use the plugin to achieve my goal of adding the meta description to the home page?

    Kind regards,

    Hi Radu,

I have the same issue. I’ve checked it on an iPhone 5S. The related posts links don’t work on a mobile and aren’t working on my site. See http://www.happyandhealthy.co/blog/its-time-for-a-detox/ and scroll to the bottom and then try clicking on one of the ‘related posts’ below (screenshot 2 attached). It works on a Mac, but not on my mobile.

The same is true when someone tries to click on an image carousel on a mobile. You can see an example of this on the bottom of the following page where it says ‘Explore other topics’: http://www.happyandhealthy.co/recipes/ (screenshot 1 attached as well).

    Kind regards,

    Hi Laura,

Thanks for your message. I managed to find out how to hide the logo entirely, but Ideally I would want to do the following as explained above:

    QUOTE

I would also like to know how to move the small logo slightly down and right (so that it is about 20 px from the top and left of the banner image’s edge). If this works well, I might just remove the larger logo from my banner images.

    UNQUOTE

This logo should act exactly like the one that comes with the demo theme, i.e. minimise in size when scrolling down, and move into the top navigation bar area.

Could you please tell me how I can do this and send me the necessary code. Detailed instructions would be appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    Stephanus

    Hi Sharmstr,

    1. What do you mean by the following?

“the divider is part of the kleo posts shortcode. you dont have to add a divider.”

Also, how do I add a divider (like the one described, i.e. plain, solid, full-width grey line) if I DO want to add one somewhere in a post or page?

    2. Yes, it’s a custom post type. Please can you explain what you mean by ‘try using a custom excerpt’. Can you send me an example with detailed instructions? I’m not a web developer, so I need a bit more help than usual šŸ™‚

    Hi Sharmstr,

Thanks for your help. Yes, I eventually figured out how to remove the featured images. However, I still have 2 related questions about the formatting of my blog posts:

    Question 1:

You mentioned that ā€œThat demo page isn’t a blog page. Its was built using the kleo posts shortcode. That’s why the styling is different.ā€ There are times where I would also just want to use the KLEO shortcode instead of going the CSS route. What is the KLEO posts shortcode for a full width horizontal line or divider without an icon? When I’m in a post (or page) and I click on KLEO > Content elements > Divider, it provides me with the following shortcake:

    [kleo_divider type="full|long|double|short" double="yes|no" position="center|left|right" text="" class="" id=""]

How do I edit this shortcode to give me a full width divider with no icon, but having the same color, thickness, etc. as the horizontal line that you helped me to create via CSS?

    Question 2:

I want my recipe blog posts to look like my standard blog posts when viewing them on my blog page. You can view my standard blog posts here: http://www.happyandhealthy.co/blog/

However, when I view the recipe blog posts, they don’t contain the ā€œContinue readingā€ button or an excerpt of the blog’s content. You can see what I mean here: http://www.happyandhealthy.co/blog/page/3/.

I basically want to give website visitors the same easy-to-understand, uniform experience that they expect whether they are using a regular ā€˜recipe’ blog posts or a ā€˜standard’ blog post. In other words, I want to know how I can get my recipe posts to have the same look and feel (including font type, font sizes, heading sizes, etc.) as my standard blog posts? I’m trying to get my recipe posts to show a short excerpt of the recipe’s description / body copy (if it has one, otherwise it should obviously just be left blank) and a ‘Continue reading’ button that then takes them to the recipe blog post. For example, this recipe (http://www.happyandhealthy.co/blog/recipe/rainbow-salad/) contains a description (namely “Almost too beautiful to eat. This rainbow salad makes me happy! It is important to eat colourful and beautiful food. The red color in the berries are cancer fighting and enhance your health in a number of ways.”) which should be used in the excerpt that gets shown just above the ‘Continue reading’ button.

Could you please tell me how to do this? Would I again need to make changes to the CSS here? If so, could you please send me the code?

I will really appreciate your help on this because I’ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to do this, but finally gave up.

    Thanks!

    Hi Sharmstr,

Thank you for your message. What do you mean by ‘If the logo was a background of an element…’?

Also, please send me detailed instructions on how to switch via css when viewed with a mobile device. (I am not a professional web developer / programmer, so detailed step-by-step instructions would be much appreciated).

    Thanks Abe.

Seeing that parallax won’t be possible for a video background, would it be possible to create something similar to what was done one this website (http://moralrevolution.com/). See where it says ‘Welcome to Moral Revolution’ (the second full screen image from the top) to see what they’ve done. I would like to do the same thing, i.e.use a ‘play’ icon on top of an image with the parallax effect and then, when you click the button, it should open a full screen Youtube (or self-hosted) video. Would this be possible? If so, how will I do this?

Thanks again for your awesome theme!

If you can add this with a Parallex effect and the sound controls, that would be awesome.

    Hi Abe,

Thanks, I re-downloaded the theme from Themeforest, then manually updated both the parent and child themes and it resolved my issues.

    Thanks for all your help.

Do I always need to manually updated the parent and child themes? I thought that the Theme’s update function took care of this automatically, not true?

    Hi Abe,

Thanks for your email. I’ve double-checked and I definitely have the latest version of KLEO theme (and all its associated plugins) installed. However, it didn’t resolve my problems.

I would appreciate it if you can see what the issue is. For example, the Dropdown Navigation buttons aren’t working and the images on the blog seem really weird.

IMPORTANT NOTE: you need to navigate to the happyandhealthy.co site, NOT the chanedekock.com site. I believe both sites are accessed through the same FTP.

    Here are my FTP details:

    My FTP Information:
    Host: http://ftp.chanedekock.com
    FTP Username: chanedek
Password: Temp123. (with the full stop at the end)
    Web Directory: public_html

    Hi Catalin,

    Thanks for your email.

    I’m using the following:
    – K-Elements 2.0.1. (the latest version that Abe sent me)
    – Visual Composer 4.3.4
    – Revolution Slider 4.6

As I explained to Abe, when I activated K-Elements, everything still worked fine. However, as soon as I activated WPBakery Visual Composer (version 4.3.4), everything went blank (and I was unable to access the back-end of my site).

I think renamed plugins to pluginshold via FTP, then back to plugins, to get the plugins back again (and to get the back-end of the site / my dashboard to work again). This time round I activated WPBakery Visual Composer version 4.3.4 first, and then the rest of my plugins. When I did this, everything worked fine (I didn’t get any blank screens). HOWEVER, the site itself is still having some issues:
    1. Some images don’t appear on the home screen
    2. Navigation drop-downs don’t work (they used to)
    3. Animations don’t work any more – they used to (e.g. the numbers increased when you scrolled down – at the moment they just appear from the very beginning.

    Regarding the Debugging:

I’m scared that I might break something and make things worse if I try to do it myself, because I’m not really a web developer and lack the confidence that someone with your skills would have. Do you think that I should maybe send you the WordPress login details to my site so that you can see what’s going on / do the debugging yourself? If so, how do I temporarily change my WordPress password before I send it to you?

Any help would be much appreciated, because I would really like to get the site to work again!

    Thanks,

    Stephanus

Yes, it does, but then everything goes blank again as soon as I activate Visual Composer or Revolution Slider. All the plugins work fine on together, but everything bombs out (screen becomes blank) when I activate K-Elements.

I’ve got the most recent version. I believe it’s 2.1.

At the moment I can’t login to my dashboards because I’d need to disable my plugins via FTP (by renaming plugins to pluginshold), then manually go and activate them one by one. However, whenever I do this, everything is fine up until the point that I activate K-Elements. As soon as I do this, the screen goes blank.

    Hi there,

Thanks, I’ve followed your advice. Everything seems to work fine until I activate the K-Elements plugin (I’ve got the latest version installed, in case you were wondering, because I did a manual re-install of K-Elements using a download of the most recent Kleo theme). As soon as I activate K-Elements, my whole screen goes blank and I can’t access any dashboard / editing windows.

It seems like K-Elements and some of the other plugins conflict.

How do I resolve this issue?

    Update:

I’ve reinstalled K-Elements, Visual Composer and Revolution Slider as per your instructions on to see if this will resolve my remaining issues. However, it broke my theme again. I couldn’t access my site’s back-end / dashboard again.

I then logged in via FTP and renamed plugins to pluginshold, which enabled me to access my site’s back-end / dashboard. I then changed the folder back to plugins and could see all my plugins (which were marked inactive). I activated all of them except for K-Elements, and everything worked fine up to here (although my website still looked terrible). When I then activated K-Elements, I once again only got a blank screen.

Please help. Why is this happening?

    Thanks.

    Update:

I finally managed to access the Dashboard section of my website. (It seemed to have something to do with K-Elements.)

Anyway, my blog still looks terrible (see attached screenshot), and my ‘Community’ and ‘Account’ links at the top don’t work.

How can I fix these 3 issues? Certain things aren’t working on the home page either, e.g. I should have an image of an apple on a grey background, but it is only showing the grey background. Also, the ‘number of meals’ and other figures are supposed to work as animations, but they don’t.

    Please help. Thanks!

    Hi Abe,

Subsequent to sending the message above, I activated the K-Elements Plugin (which for some unknown reason wasn’t activated), which then seemed to resolve the issues on my home page. I then updated the Visual Composer Plugin and it said that it updated successfully. However, it still shows as Version 4.1.2 and not as version 4.3.4. Is this something I need to worry about?

    Kind regards,

    Hi Abe,

I’ve followed your instructions and updated the theme several times by re-downloading it from Themeforest.

However, when I try to manually update the plugin, it still gives me an error saying it couldn’t unzip the file.

Please have a look at the attached screenshots. Screenshots 2-4 show the Plugin issues, whereas Plugin 1 shows how this is effecting my site.

This is urgent. I’ve had this error since day one (since April 2014) and it’s still not working. None of my other plugins give issues, only the Visual Composer one.

I still believe it has got something to do with the license key that is incorrect or not working the way that it should.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

What do you mean when you say that ‘Plugin updates come once with theme updates’? Does this mean that the Visual Composer is only updated at the time of purchase, but then never again thereafter?

Also, I’ve only got WPBakery Visual Composer installed, but when I go to Dashboard>Settings>Visual Composer and I insert my Envato KLEO theme details, I get the following error. I’ve triple-checked everything and my details are 100% correct. Does this mean that I won’t be able to update Visual Composer? Surely there is then something wrong with the License Key that was issued with my purchase? I’ve been using the Item Purchase Code for my KLEO License – is this correct, or should I be using an Item Purchase Code for Visual Composer itself? If the answer is the latter, where can I find this Item Purchase Code, because from what I understood, Visual Composer was/is included in the KLEO theme?

If necessary, would you or Envato be able to provide me with a new Licence Key that actually works? It’s really frustrating not being able to update this plugin.

See the attached screenshot to see the error message that I get when I try to run the update.

By the way, I also read through the topic on updating bundled plugins: https://archived.seventhqueen.com/forums/topic/steps-to-update-kleo-theme, but it didn’t answer my questions or help me to resolve my issue, so your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks, that’s what I thought.

This still leaves me with 2 questions though:

    1. I am still unable to update the ‘WP Visual Composer Plugin’ on my plugins page – why is this?
    2. Is ‘WPBakery Visual Composer’ something different to ‘Visual Composer’? If so, can I delete ‘WPBakery Visual Composer’ from my list of Plugins?

Please refer to the 2 attached screenshots for more details.

    Thanks

(By the way, congrats on a great theme!)
