sharmster, no problem on jumping in. I like getting opinions from different directions. I will have to read up more on that. I try not to mess with too much programming as I seem to put one thing in the wrong area and bork it all up. haha
One thought though on the sidebar usage of what I was mentioning to clarify.
Say I created two sidebars called “top_advert_left” and “top_advert_right” and within each I have a text widget that has, for instance, this:
COPY CODE<a href="http://www.stixfx.com"><img class=" size-full wp-image-15 aligncenter" src="http://legendsnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/advert-sfx-ontrack-500x100.jpg" alt="advert-sfx-ontrack-500x100" width="500" height="100" /></a>
I know from playing around with adding a revolution slider in on the pages which themes I have the PHP code to drop in (and general locations from that discussion before and info above on theme pages). But what code do I use specifically to drop in a sidebar and format it as such (see the example image). Again, maybe I am thinking the wrong thing here, but the reason I thought about adding the code into the theme page and then just updating the code on the widget is for ease of location (so I don’t have to go into the theme to alter the advert … can be done within the widget text for the sidebar).
Also, Radu, the left / right spacing I am not concerned with on that example. It is the gap spacing above and below the “HOME ABOUT” etc strip. For the life of me I cannot find a way to shrink that spacing down that makes the height of the menu area taller than needed or wanted.
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantRadu, thanks for the replies. On your first posting, that is a decent option, but I found a few issues with it when I tried to use it for my application.
1) The height of the area is a bit confusing. No matter what adjustments I made to the area sizing, it made the navigation very tall and created too much spacing. See attached image. I actually really like using this option to create an advert area alongside the logo and have the menu under, but I hate all that extra space above and below the menu links. If I can figure out how to eliminate all that space (see attached screenshot), I might use this option.
2) I still would need additional advertising space at the top of the website for additional sponsors, so while this option would be great to create one ad spot, it doesn’t allow me to create additional advertising spots.

I decided to go with one page per on the media website since I want to sell advertising, and all of those like to know numbers. On a client site that has a schedule of races per year, I used the tab for easier end-user usage since the web traffic isn’t really that big of a selling point for them.
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantFourth website by my company using Kleo is now online!
Website: http://www.dawsoncram.com
About: Dawson Cram is a young up-and-coming race car driver that drives a Legends Car in INEX competition. Dawson has been a web client of mine since he was eight years old, and his old site was on a sitebuilder platform. Today the website not only moved into the WP format with Kleo, but gets an upgrade for the first time in about four years!STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantThanks Abe! Loving this theme. I plan on adding more websites to the theme over the coming weeks.
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantJust launched another website!
The website is a news media outlet covering Legends Cars and Bandolero racing action. It used to be the leading authority for that type of racing from 2007 – 2012 when I shut it down to focus on other things. I relaunched it a few weeks ago, but it was in another theme that was great, but had some flaws. I relaunched it in Kleo tonight. Still going to do some future tweaks. Hope you all like!
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantJust want to add to this note. I ran into the same problem today on a website build where I was using the post carousel. On PC / laptop the items within were clickable, but on mobile it wasn’t (Android … phone and tablet). I didn’t install rtMedia initially since my website doesn’t need a community at this time (didn’t install buddypress). Once I installed rtMedia, it worked perfectly.
It might be good to move rtMedia from a recommended plugin to a mandatory plugin upon Kleo install so that some basic elements like the post carousel works correctly.

I believe a former theme I had bought and messed with (ended up not being the total solution) could do this. I am trying to remember which one.
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantExcellent, thanks. I will actually do that with the child theme.
Sounds good on API. As far as all uses, absolutely! I know people that do not with their themes, and that is disappointing. People need to be paid for their work … I know as a small business owner!
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantWell, since you opened the floor again … lol …
I am using the child theme, but it refers to use the main theme for the files like the one above I changed. So with that, I have a couple questions.
1) If I update the theme, that will overwrite that change and I would have to add that code back in, correct?
2) If I put in the API and key for auto updates, will it update automatically or will I be told to update through the dashboard so I know to apply, then address in question 1.
3) Do I need to generate a different API key per install, or is one API key ok to use across all installs of Kleo?
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantExcellent, thanks! I am not sure yet if I want to do that or just keep the slider below (like I have on my http://www.9willrise.com website currently).
Speaking of sitewide slider, what is the best method to have a sitewide slider? Currently on the 9 website I only have it on the main page, and I inserted it via the page settings for the home page. If I want it sitewide (pages, posts, etc), what is the best method with this theme?
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantDefault for entire website. Reference: http://www.benrhodes.com (different theme at the moment, but I might eventually move it to Kleo).
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantThanks sharmstr! Loving this theme, and looking to convert over more existing client websites (some are not WP websites) to use this theme, and looking to build new ones. Just barely scratched the surface on what this theme can do!
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantSecond website launch in Kleo for me:
Edwards Equipment Repair, Inc.
Business website for a client
http://www.edwardsequipmentrepair.com
Launched in this theme: January 18th, 2015Notes: The client wanted to keep a similar look and feel as their old site, which is really just a small, one page “business card” so to speak. I was able to achieve the simple look the way they wanted with a professional look.
STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantFirst website launch in Kleo for me:
9 Will Rise
A website dedicated to 9, the cat
http://www.9willrise.com
Launched in this theme: January 15th, 2015(this is my cat, so I used his website to test out working in the new theme)
January 16, 2015 at 01:33 in reply to: Examples of theme with news feed as well as other examples for mass conversion #42292STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantAnd honestly, I have just scratched the surface with understanding what all it can do. From what I have seen though, this is my new theme I will develop for all my client websites!
January 16, 2015 at 01:32 in reply to: Examples of theme with news feed as well as other examples for mass conversion #42291STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantShhhh .. don’t tell too many people. It will put my business out of business if people knew how cool and easy it is. haha
The mobile and tablet versions looks good. There are a few things I need to figure out yet though. One is the size of the images on my sidebars. They do not span out the width of the cell phone or tablet, and reside on the left side a bit. It still looks great though.
January 15, 2015 at 23:37 in reply to: Examples of theme with news feed as well as other examples for mass conversion #42264STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantHey sharmstr, sorry for the delay. I have been really playing around with the theme. I did try that code … it seemed to work on the PC version, but mobile version it did some screwy things, so I am not going to worry about it at the moment.
BUT …
See what you think! http://www.9willrise.com (if you do not see a version with a slider at the top, the DNS hasn’t updated).
January 15, 2015 at 06:01 in reply to: Examples of theme with news feed as well as other examples for mass conversion #42163STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantI tried a few search terms, but didn’t find anything. Let me know if you find anything or find anything out.
Thanks!
January 15, 2015 at 05:41 in reply to: Examples of theme with news feed as well as other examples for mass conversion #42156STIX FX EntertainmentParticipantHey sharmstr, I am really digging this theme! Still poking around, and a lot to poke around with, which is a good thing!
Question. Do you know a way to adjust the size of each sidebar when using the two sidebar look? I know you can set the percentage of the main versus the two sidebars, but nothing for each sidebar. They appear to be identical size. For instance, I might want a 50% main, 20% left and 30% right sidebar look. Attached is an example of one sidebar being smaller than the other.
Thanks!

You are correct, it is just taking from the posts section. And being that (as you mentioned) the Kleo demo doesn’t really show what it looks like with a posts feed in there, I wasn’t sure if it was possible (figured it was, but not sure how it would look or work).
I have a license, so tomorrow I will be installing and testing on a dev server to see if I can get some desired looks with what I am trying to accomplish.
Again, thanks … and expect more questions in the near future. Hopefully you and the rest of the staff here will keep up with the quick responses. I have been very frustrated for months by spending a lot of money on multiple themes (of elite authors too) only to find bugs and the customer service not really caring to take the time to fix, or even respond!
