We were able to restore from a backup (exported data) but still haven’t figured out how this happened.
July 21, 2015 at 02:09 in reply to: Lost all Kleo customizations by adding a widget – wordpress compatibility? #69195empoweredanimalsParticipantIt would help me most to know how to restore these settings from a backup. They’ve got to be in the database somewhere, right?
empoweredanimalsParticipantYes, I removed it as a test and it did not make a difference in the width. My css was only affecting the horizontal lines.
empoweredanimalsParticipantThe default way that Kleo does the mobile menu still doesn’t work on my site. It does not show the full menu, only the main items (not the ones linked underneath). In order to get a working menu with sub-links in the navigation, I had to select “replace the default Mobile Menu with the Side Menu.”
Has that issue been resolved?
empoweredanimalsParticipantOh no – I shouldn’t have installed the update right now. It sort of semi-fixed it, but now the whole page is too narrow.
What happens now is that in both Safari and Chrome, when I look at the profile page (and the profile edit page), it’s extremely narrow. They can, however, edit the fields. But it’s so narrow as to be almost unreadable.

empoweredanimalsParticipantThanks for checking. So far, then, it’s only on Safari for the Mac. It looks fine on the phone. On the machine I’m on, I have Version 8.0.5 (10600.5.17). I’m not sure what the member is using. But it’s broken here.
empoweredanimalsParticipantAnd I’m with you on that other thread – it’s human nature to just go with the more obvious choice, but just because there are more male tech geeks than female ones, it still sucks to have them assume we are guys! I did notice a while back you mentioned you aren’t a ‘he’ in your bio so there’s really no excuse for sirring. 🙂
empoweredanimalsParticipantI upgraded the theme using the automatic system. Do I still need to upgrade the Kleo-related plugins manually? It looks like that’s a no (and my plugins appear to not be out of date) but I’m reading some things that say you do.
empoweredanimalsParticipantI’m having trouble with the profile editing page looking really awful in Safari. I don’t know if that was always that way or if it’s something new. Are you having the same issue, 5high-photohub? I’m posting here because I wonder if our workaround is not good after all.

empoweredanimalsParticipantIt’s not a plugin, it’s an html table that I wrote. It worked fine in my other theme, just shrunk down. But something in Kleo is not allowing that to happen.
empoweredanimalsParticipantYes, that’s what I did, just a link.
I use the S2member login for people who are not logged in (because it recommends registration) and the BuddyPress one for our paid users (after they log in).
empoweredanimalsParticipantI just link to the regular wp-login now in the top menu. It’s not as fancy, but at least there are no page refresh issues.
empoweredanimalsParticipantSince this question was triggered by the recent Buddypress update, I hope this fits here.
I have some new behavior on my site since the Buddypress update. Now when people go to make groups, the image upload and group info section are missing – it just creates a private group immediately with the standard avatar. Is this happening to anybody else? I am not 100% certain it was the BP update as we also had some other plugins update and made some general site changes. But I figure the first thing to see is if anybody else is having this issue with Kleo.
empoweredanimalsParticipantOur launch did go well, Jenny, with some major glitches because there were too many people so the server was overloaded. Our fix for the first issue probably wouldn’t help you because we were missing the code for our own includes file. But the most recent time it broke, we fixed it by moving to a managed server that is optimized for WordPress.
empoweredanimalsParticipantThanks! I will have to dig into that as javascript is not at all my specialty. Must be one of our plugins doing that.
empoweredanimalsParticipantDoes it search the content in those groups or just the groups themselves? It doesn’t seem to be working for me.
empoweredanimalsParticipantSimilarly for a search of BAT, if you want to see the results on page 2, clicking the 2 doesn’t work. You can grab the link reference and go to https://animalbuildingblocks.com/?s=bat&list=2 though.
If there’s any way to get help de-wonkifying the style too that would be great. 🙂
empoweredanimalsParticipantI reinstalled it to have another look. The links I was referring to were the filtered results – Blog, Groups, Members, etc. and also to other pages of results.
Links to other pages do not work (link titles are 1,2,3,4, etc.) and the link to the blog results also doesn’t work. But the link to the filter that shows results only in groups and members does work.
Here’s my site (I have the search plugin activated right now but will need to uninstall soon before people get upset): http://animalbuildingblocks.com
For example, the link to the posts on a search for peanut is https://animalbuildingblocks.com/?s=peanut&subset=posts you have to right click to get the URL. This URL will work, but the Posts link with that URL is not clickable.
I did try the other way to have groups and members in part of the Ajax search on Kleo but that option isn’t working for me – and I’m not sure it actually searches member activity anyway, or just member and group names.
empoweredanimalsParticipantI’d like to echo the rest for a global search – “To include activity, forums and groups would be very nice” was mentioned in early 2014.
empoweredanimalsParticipantI also have a request in on their forum, but I’m pretty sure the issue is in that it’s not syncing up well with Kleo. The results it brings back area great – searches the user updates, etc. But I need pages that work! 🙂
empoweredanimalsParticipantOk I just installed it and it seems to be working fine. Fingers crossed that nothing else has broken… I’m going to mark this thread as resolved.
empoweredanimalsParticipantSomeone commented in December that it was still working, but the last upgrade was 3 years ago…so I’m worried. Anybody have newer info?
empoweredanimalsParticipantI’ve been searching but can’t find it. Before I posted here, I found an old one but it’s not current at all.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-activity-stream-bump-to-top/
Do let me know if you remember. Or maybe someone will revive this old plugin. 🙂
empoweredanimalsParticipantFound a workaround. Man I love the help out there online…
http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/limit-access-to-your-wordpress-dashboard/
empoweredanimalsParticipantI even tried installing an additional plugin to hide the dashboard, but it also did not work. Something is actively preventing the dashboard from being hidden.
empoweredanimalsParticipantI have a similar conflict. I am running s2member and kleo and had the kleo redirect to current page after login (same as the s2member login). Well, I had the ‘you are already logged in’ problem but the worst part was that it would intermittently give my members access to the WP *dashboard*. This never happened with the old (albeit less attractive) theme.
So I turned off the Kleo redirect and am using only buddypress and s2member logins. So far no more back door access. Fingers crossed, though, as it was intermittent.
empoweredanimalsParticipantThanks! Do you have a list somewhere of plugins that are compatible with Kleo?
empoweredanimalsParticipantThanks! That’s great to know. I think the answer lies in using a filter.
empoweredanimalsParticipantI found the solution, but I would like a workaround. It turns out the Buddypress Like plugin was conflicting. In addition to the error above, it was also making the menu no longer sticky.
Anybody have an alternative to BuddyPress Like? I really like that feature (no pun intended).
There are other plugins on my DO NOT INSTALL list that have conflicted that I’d love to have back, if there is some way. Thoughts?
* Rating-Widget: Star Rating System (they put content on your site)
BuddyPress First Letter Avatar (conflicted with site and caused the group invitation to throw 500 error)
* WP User Avatar (which was creating avatars for people who already had them)
* BuddyPress Global Search – Might try to reinstall later. It looks great but the links are not working to go to other pages of results, beyond what’s shown on the screen. You have to manually copy and paste the link to those other pages. I think maybe it’s a js conflict.
* BuddyPress Like installed March 28, 9:57 am AK time, deactivated because it made the sticky menu not sticky and also made the profile icons go away.empoweredanimalsParticipanthttp://animalbuildingblocks.com, although you won’t see it without signing up for a Free Sample.
