ModeratorHi,
It’s possible, but hard to believe. I’m not sure what to say – it should be back online by now.

ModeratorHi,
What kind of features are you looking for? You can search in the WordPress.org plugin repository with Buddypress and the term for the feature you’re looking for to find plugins that may already offer it.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/BuddyPress/
In your title you suggested a poke feature or message options. You may wish to try the following plugins on a test environment and see how they work for you.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-poke/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-better-messages/
Please remember these are third party plugins and we do not have an integration with them specifically, if something does not work you will need to reach out to the plugin developer for assistance.
If you’re looking to gamify your website a little with awards and rewards for actions you may wish to try GamiPress which has a BuddyPress intregration.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/gamipress/
Hope this helps,
Kieran

ModeratorHi,
I can’t recommend whether you should move hosts or not. But I can offer my personal opinion (not necessarily the opinion of SeventhQueen) on some of the other points.
It seems like speed is an issue for you. I can’t remember if you’re using WooCommerce or not, but if you are you should look at greater than shared hosting like cloud instances or dedicated servers.
If you’re not using WooCommerce and just BuddyPress with smaller plugins then shared hosting may be an option for you. Either way the host should have CloudFlare, StackPath (formerly MaxCDN) or KeyCDN etc integrated at the server level for free or a minimum cost.
Most of the hosts you suggested have European locations so that shouldn’t be an issue – and some appear to have free migrations at the cPanel level which could also be good for your needs.
I have personally hosted with GoDaddy many years ago and would never do so again. SiteGround is a good host in my experience but I left them for another due to their renewal costs. I can’t speak to InMotion or A2Hosting as I have never used them but I do hear good things about them.
You should take the time to talk to the sales reps for all of your prospective hosts and check that they offer the basics such as
– Staging
– Ability to switch PHP versions, including which versions they have available
– Do they allow MySQL and MariaDB, if so, do they offer up-to-date versions
– Do they offer Let’s Encrypt or OpenSSL free SSL certificates
– Do they make automatic backups that you can use? (Note: never rely on just host backups, make your own too)
– Do they have a Service Level Agreement (SLA)
– If they state unlimited, find out what the real limits are, unlimited is never unlimited
– What redundancy do they have
– What is their current up time on X server for last 12 monthsThere are obviously many other points to ask, some which will only be known to you through the issues you have faced and should definitely ask them all.
I wouldn’t think that restoring a file of 4GB should take that long. Maybe they’re working on other issues related to the backup too?
I hope this helps in some way, if you have other questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to offer some guidance the best I can.

ModeratorHi,
I can see on mobile that the values have been changed to 20px !important but if this is not working for you I’ll assign this ticket to a higher support level for review. They’ll be in touch as soon as they can, Monday to Friday, East European Time.
Thanks,
Kieran

ModeratorHi,
It is safe to delete any plugins primary folder in /wp-content/plugins/ but you will obviously lose any access to that plugin. If that plugin is causing an Error 500 then deleting it will restore the site.
Thanks,
Kieran

ModeratorHi,
For the main activity feed please use the below snippet on a new line at the end of the KLEO Child theme’s functions.php file – you can do this via WP Admin > Appearance > Editor > KLEO Child > Functions.php or via your hosts file browser.
COPY CODEfunction limit_main_activity( $loop ) { $loop['per_page'] = 5; return $loop; } add_filter( 'bp_after_has_activities_parse_args', 'limit_main_activity' );
You can also limit the individual members activity feed with the below snippet. Add this as per the instructions above
COPY CODEfunction limit_members_feed( $loop ) { // only fetch the last five entries if we're on a user's activity page if ( bp_is_user_activity() ) { $loop['per_page'] = 5; } return $loop; } add_filter( 'bp_after_has_activities_parse_args', 'limit_members_feed' );
In each instance change the number 5 to suit your needs.
Thanks,
Kieran

ModeratorHi,
Please try adding this directly to the SweetDate Child theme’s style.css, I cannot see the CSS I sent you there. If it is there, please clear your caches.
If after adding the CSS to the style.css it still does not appear then please update this ticket with admin credentials so I can look into this.

ModeratorHi,
You can use the below custom CSS in your SweetDate Child theme’s style.css, I have added !important to this CSS because it does not appear you’re adding your CSS in the file stated above and therefore you may need to use !important going forward with any CSS for it to render as expected.
COPY CODE#members-list .search-item { margin-top: 50px !important; } #members-list { margin-top: 50px !important; }
Thanks,
Kieran

ModeratorHi,
1. The problem arises from the way these plugins and services recompile JS and CSS files and often you’ll find they do not work when compiled with other files of the same type. In these cases they should be excluded from the plugin or service that has the issue with compiling them.
If adding these files to your caching plugin is enough to sort the issue then there is no need to add them to CloudFlare also.
4. Please go through the settings for the plugin, clearing your website cache and front-end cache each time to check for a conflict with a particular option. If there is nothing specific in there then I would suggest reaching out directly to the plugin developer about the plugin blocking images coming from graph.facebook.com in FireFox only.
Thanks,
Kieran
