Hello, for the first issue, your header didnt had a background, add this to style.css of child theme to add it 🙂

For the column, is because you didnt add a background, use this

Hello, the child theme should be activated always, but never updated, because if you save custom changes there, like custom php or css, the update would delete them
So, have child theme activated as the actual theme but never update it, update the MAIN theme 🙂

Hello, you need to delete the ones at the trash first and delete the original one.
Also you dont really need to name it “register” it can be anything, just needs to be selected at Settings > Buddypress > Pages
