Thanks @mineo, I already updated mine though but I appreciate your help.

    @abe
I already did use the latest .po file, but I noticed that the one you attached here is not the same as the one in the official update. That one says version 2.3 and the one you uploaded here says 2.8.1 which is consistent with the latest theme version. There is also a considerable size difference between them btw.

Anyway, I updated my translation with this one, that you uploaded here, but…. still no luck. Still the same problems.

So now I have no freaking idea what my problem might be. Needless to say its very frustrating. I don’t know how many hours I’ve spent on this now, but it’s days, not hours anymore :-/

@abe Yes I have the latest theme and latest wordpress and latest buddypress.

I have used codestyling localization for over a year and a half but no, I do not use it anymore, since this has not been a good alternative for me. I uninstalled it a few weeks ago and now I only use poedit for translations, which is a much better way, in my case at least. Don’t know about other peoples preferences.

So, like I said, I am 100% positive that the words HAVE been translated and yes in the correct .po.mo files and yes in the correct theme and all plugins with the correct corresponding paths etc etc.

So, the only conclusion left is that these particular phrases and words are hard coded somewhere or that there is a bug somewhere.

For your convenience @abe I have now taken the time to go through every single plugin I have, .po and .pot files, to make 100% sure again that there isn’t a conflict or anything with any other strings. Result: No conflicts.

I have also made a few screenshots for you that shows my translation inside poedit of one of the examples previously given. In this example I show you the strings: “I agree with the terms and conditions.” and “FORGOT YOUR USERNAME?” on the login/register pop-up. These strings exist in the sweetdate theme files only, and they HAVE been translated correctly as the screenshot demonstrates.

Hopefully this might help and we can get this sorted out now, cause I don’t know how to better explain this.

@Abe I have some of the exact same translating issues as @mineo. At least the “terms and conditions” and “groups directory”, but I also have a few more of these things throughout the page.

I used codestyling localization before, but now I only use poedit since the plugin had way too many issues.

I have with 100% certainty translated these strings, in all plugins and the theme, however these issues are still there. So I’m guessing these must be hard coded somewhere, or there are some bugs somewhere.

Thank you for answering Abe 🙂

Actually the change should also be applied to the profile page, where there is a similar menu, but I get your point, it’s not possible without coding on my end.

But I do hope that you guys will fix this in the future. I mean this menu is kind of messy and not very nice and clean, like the rest of the theme is. So hopefully we will see a nicer, cleaner looking menu in the future some day 🙂

…or just simply that you move the sidebar under the menu 🙂

    Thanks again Abe.

This is my structure and it’s working fine for me:

    BuddyPress
    wp-content/languages/buddypress-nb_NO.po/mo

    bbPress
    wp-content/languages/plugins/bbpress-nb_NO.po/mo

    Sweetdate
    wp-content/themes/sweetdate/languages/nb_NO.po/mo

I also use a child theme, but I don’t have any language files there.

All other plugin translations go into the wp-content/languages/plugins/ folder except for the Paid Memberships Pro plugin, that goes into wp-content/plugins/paid-memberships-pro/languages/pmpro-nb_NO.po/mo.

I used the localize plugin before, but I deleted it because it seems to do more harm than good, so now I only use poedit and this seems to work better for me.

I like this setup because when I update a plugin I don’t have to worry about overwriting anything, plus it keeps it nice and neat, everything in one place, well except for the PMP plugin and the theme (sweetdate) which doesn’t work in the wp-content/languages/ folder for some (unfortunate) reason. It would be REALLY nice if they did though, cause then everything would be in one single folder (wp-content/languages).

Oh, and the BuddyPress translation can also go into the wp-content/languages/plugins/ folder if you want, but I’ve read somewhere that if you do it might get overwritten during a BuddyPress update. So I leave it in the languages folder instead and it works perfectly.

My website (for reference) is http://www.norskmodell.no

You misunderstood. I already have this enabled. My problem is that since I have this feature enabled, my members simply just write their email addresses all over the site, on walls, in the forum, on comments…..they simply write their email addresses, and so they avoid having to pay for a membership.

Yes @krecikm I guess that’s an option, but finding them all is not always easy, have to spend hours searhing for the right files and then when there are updates to either the theme, wordpress or the plugins, there’s yet another thing to “fix” after the update….

would just be a lot easier if there was a good plugin or something….

I have also wanted to try “Welcome Pack” but when I saw it’s last update was over 2 years ago….I didnt take the chance. I also read in a comment that it does not work with the latest wordpress release.

I really need to change all those different automatic emails thought, they look like crap, some aren’t even formated at all, and the information in them is bad and useless in some cases.

This goes for almost all auto-mails, like when signing up, making a payment for subscriptions, cancelling, when receiving an email about new messages in the inbox and so on…..

Can anyone please tell me if “Welcome Pack” actually works now and with Sweetdate, or perhaps tip us on a good alternative?

I’ve tried a couple others but they didn’t work as expected or required.

You could use the “codestyling localization” plugin to translate the text into something different I guess.

    Hi,
    1. I did translate it in codestyling localization, as I also did mention. But the english still shows. And yes I generated the .mo file.

    2. Yes I assumed this would be too tricky 🙂 But thank you for answering.

Seems to be working on my site, however I have 2 requests:

    1. Where do I translate it?
I translated it using codestyling localization, however it doesnt show.

    2. It would be really helpful if the Like button showed in pictures as well, preferably on the popup, not just in activities. Activities are only temporary, very temporary if you have some members…..so the Like function really should be present on images at all times. But I’m guessing this is a major operation?

Great #sqadmin that helped 🙂 thank you so much.

    Here’s a couple places I still can’t translate though:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/y9ywryvs78iyywq/screen5.jpg

    1. The popular banner on the membership levels page.
    2. The cancel or keep membership.
    3. The uploaded a new picture on the site activity page.

Well I have looked everywhere, and double and tripple checked. Some of the strings simply do not exist. Like for example: “Upgrade account” in the profile page next to your username. And like the “Select” button in the membership levels tables. And “My photos” in the members profile tab. To name just a few. I have many more like these, that I simply cannot find, and this is a problem I have had since I first installed this theme.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love this theme, but yes….it is indeed a nightmare to translate. And I have used Codestyling Localization since the beginning, plus I have tried solving issues using Poedit too.

Now, I still have issues translating the membership tables, like the “View members directory” that I mentioned earlier in this topic. Yes I have followed your instructions, however, despite the fact that I have found and translated these strings, they simply do not show in my own language.

Needless to say, I am a bit confused at the moment 🙂 hehe.

What is strange is that some strings are translated while others are not, see the screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zpv4bga1mg52phd/screen2.jpg

The green outlines have been correctly translated, while the red outlines have not. They are translated but they still show as english.

And some strings, like the “View members directory” in the example above, I cannot even find. It’s like they don’t exist.

I cannot find the strings I need to translate in the PMPRO plugin. Not in the backend using codestyling localization nor after downloading it and opening it with poedit.

    For example: View members directory

This simply does not exist in the pmpro-nb_NO.po file for some reason. Any ideas?

Well I went to the revolution guys (themepunch) website and there you can download a bunch of sliders. So I did that. But I still would like the one in the sweetdate demo, cause I like it 🙂 it goes nicely with the theme 🙂

I don’t have any problems with flash or the slider settings, easy enough. But why re-invent the wheel….if you get my drift 🙂 I’m sure I’m not the only one who would like to be able to simply import a file instead of having to spend minutes or even hours with it when I really don’t have to 🙂 cause even though it is easy, it still requires a lot of tweaking to get it just right.

Thank you @JohnDoe, I also found that, but my question is if we can have the same settings as used in the demo theme. Since this is already setup correctly for the sweetdate theme and it also is done in a nice way, I would like to have the exact same settings as a starting point, and moderate it. Instead of having to start from scratch and try and tweak until I finally get it right.

So, getting the settings that are used in the default sweetdate theme would be very helpful indeed 🙂

But thank you for helping JohnDoe 🙂 much appreciated 🙂

    1.
I’d love to see a carousel, either as a widget or on the home page, of my members latest (or most popular) uploaded photos from their BP Album.

    2.
Some sort of ranking system would also be extremely nice, where members could rate photos and get on some top lists. This however might probably be too much work. But it would be SWEET 😉 hehe.

Thank you admin, it helps, but the comment system is still not a particularly good one. I guess I just wish it was a lot better, easier to find, had a rating system and perhaps with widgets that could display the top rated and stuff like that. But I know this is a dating theme, not a rating theme 🙂 hehe, so of course I know I cannot have everything exactly as I wish, and that’s ok 🙂 Thanks again for your answer 🙂

I totally agree with @godrob on this, the entire profile menu or “members menu” would greatly benefit from a CSS face-lift or something 🙂 it is very unintuitive. The placements of the buttons, the look and the feel of that menu is very “back to the 90’s” compared to the rest of the site, which is pretty much awesomely great 😀

I am also curious about the rating and commenting on user photos. It is supposed to be that you can comment and add to favorite with the BP-Album plugin. However since the photos pop up in a lightbox those functions seem unavailable. And only show up in the activity stream when publishing.

A rating system would be extremely helpful on my site as it is mainly about models, photographers and in essence….their photos.

I have tried a couple facebook plugins to try to get the “share” or “like” function on them, but unfortunately I have so far been unsuccessful.

Any help here would be very greatly appreciated 🙂

At this point I am also completely confused, because there are so many translations and plugins and what-not.

    bbPress © The bbPress Community
    BuddyPress © The BuddyPress Community
    bbPress © bbPress.org
BuddyPress Translations © The BuddyPress Community
Sweetdate © SeventhQueen (which is turned off)

…and there used to be Sweetdate Child, but as I said this is not showing up anymore.

Some (or most of them) have different errors here and there.
    Like:
Compatibility: Loading Issue: Author is using load_textdomain instead of load_plugin_textdomain function. This may break behavior of WordPress, because some filters and actions won’t be executed anymore. Please contact the Author about that.

    …and:
Warning: The actual loaded translation content contains mixed textdomains and is not pure translateable within one textdomain.
It seems, that there is code contained extracted out of other plugins, themes or widgets and used by copy & paste inside some source files.
The affected unknown textdomains are: bbbpress

    …and:
Error: The actual loaded translation content does not match the textdomain: buddypress
Expect, that any text you translate will not occure as long as the textdomain is mismatching!
This is a coding issue at the source files you try to translate, please contact the original Author and explain this mismatch.

So I do not know where to look for my translations, and if I look, I cannot find it OR even if I translate it won’t show…..

So I am very confused and don’t know what to do here now.

Still have issues with the translations. Now the child theme isn’t even activated in Codestyling Localization. It simply doesn’t show anywhere there.

    This is the error message:

    Malfunction at current Theme detected!
Name: Sweetdate Child | Author: SeventhQueen
Below listed scripts has been automatically stripped because of injection:

    http://norskmodell.no/wp-content/themes/sweetdate/framework/shortcodes/tinymce/js/popup.js

I would REALLY like to translate your theme into norwegian, and would be happy to share the translation with you of course. But I just can’t get it to work. Now, some of the text is translated but some is not. No matter where I try to translate it, backend or even poedit.

I’m sorry @girlinparis but I don’t think we’re having the same problems. I am not creating any subdomains and I haven’t updated to the last version yet. I’ve had this problem all along, and I didn’t see anything about a fix for this in the changelog for the new update, so I highly doubt that this will fix it. But thank you for sharing and offering your help, it is greatly appreciated 🙂
