Updating the theme will somehow disable my homepage(it will not come up after the update) and other pages. I don’t know what it is. My child theme is activated so I don’t know why it will mess up my pages.

Attached is one error msg. When you close the window and click the login option then “Lost Your Password” link again, you see the same error msg. Shouldn’t it be initialized every time the window is opened?

gigidesignParticipantYes I did. But, it doesn’t work. Only the background is changed. Also, the !important property is not necessary because this is coded in the child’s theme which takes precedence over any other CSS rules, right?
gigidesignParticipantSorry, I meant all colors – background, text hover. The background is okay but the text color and hover do not seem to change.
gigidesignParticipantWell, I think that the problem might not be in your theme since this only happens on iPhones. It’s fine on iPads. Anyways, try to test it yourself by adding background on hover of submenu items. You should be able to easily do this.
gigidesignParticipantPlease see the attached image.

gigidesignParticipantI fixed the problem by setting up the background images and color on the GENERAL tab instead of the background tab under the Row Settings.
gigidesignParticipantThe changes messed up my homepage. The settings in other tabs had been bypassed. I have already emailed the support to immediately fix this. Are you guys also created Ultimate Addons for VS?
gigidesignParticipantYou must not have whitelisted your ip. Did you follow the instructions in the manual?
Anyways, pm me ur skype id so I can walk you through.
gigidesignParticipantGood for you. I’m also new to all these (OOL/PHP/Apache/Java/WP) but I’m a pro in software development. Hopefully, you’ll sleep better now.
gigidesignParticipantI’m also staying away from using plugins because it’s kind of like doing a bubblegum repair. For example, if it takes up server resources to stay logged into the WP Admin for too long, then don’t do that. If you’re still developing your pages/posts, you can just save it as draft and come back to it. So, you don’t really need the Heartbeat Control.
gigidesignParticipantI don’t have the answers to all your questions.
My site is still under development and will be launched by first week of next month. I can tell you though that when my server usage skyrocketed, the web host support recommended for an upgrade. It did not really make any sense since I was still not signing up new members to the community groups. I found out that spammers/sploggers are stealing bandwidth and I’m getting tons of registrations. So, I streamlined the registration and login process. I also strengthened the security on the site. My usage is now back to normal and I’m still on a shared hosting plan.
gigidesignParticipantIt was on the same boat as you until I got myself educated on how spammers/sploggers steal content and bandwidth for their own gain.
So I suggest that you get rid of CloudFlare. Strengthen your .htaccess and robots.txt. Install ZB Block especially if you are using BuddyPress. Delete all the spammers who registered. Check your latest visitors log on the control panel to check what pages these lowlifes are accessing and note them down. It will help you tailor your .htaccess file.
January 20, 2015 at 03:33 in reply to: Is the a way to include the IP address during registration? #42712gigidesignParticipantI know about WangGuard. I would like to stay away from using plugins. What I have modified in the code and htaccess is doing more good than WangGuard.
Anyways, I’ll pass this on directly to the developers.
gigidesignParticipantWhat if you just assign a default membership level upon registration? Can this be done? If so, please advise on how to do it.
gigidesignParticipantThanks sharmstr. The black background does not work too well so I changed it to another color.
gigidesignParticipantAt that time, I thought that the questions were inter-related because I got that link problem right after I used the KLEO links (per your suggestion) instead of the BuddyPress links.
gigidesignParticipantI solved it!
Here is the solution.
Go to WP Admin>Pages>All Pages>Home
Select Back End Editor.
Scroll down to the Theme General Settings section.
Set the Top Bar Status to Default (see captured image: Problem – Top Bar Disappears)
Hit Update.Do the same to pages that where the top bar status was set to hidden.
gigidesignParticipantFor those who have not solved this problem, try this:
Go to WP Admin>Pages>All Pages>Home
Use the Back End Editor.
Scroll down and look for Top bar status under Theme General Settings section. Select default. Then Update the page.
gigidesignParticipantI know that the login link does not show up when I am already logged in. I also know about setting it to the right location.
I noticed that the links just don’t show up on the home page but it does show up on the rest of the site pages.
What do you think is going on?
gigidesignParticipantI am having the same trouble. However, I noticed that the login and register links don’t show up only on the Home Page.
Has anyone have any resolution to this?
gigidesignParticipantI used KLEO Login/Register links per your suggestion, however the links did not show up on the site. Why is this so?
