Hello, you can create a default membership like basic or free so they select it there, and have a redirect that when they go to the wp-login.php page, it takes them to your homepage.
This can be done with several redirection plugins.

Hello, it doesnt take too much for me, but it may help to disable some plugins that may be making the media slow, also try a cache plugin like w3 total cache, a cdn may help too ,like cloudflare or maxcdn
